The DBY and DCY series are bevel-helical gear, hard-faced reducers. They belong to the parallel shaft family but incorporate bevel gears to achieve a 90-degree right-angle drive between the input and output shafts. This series complies with the Chinese Machinery Industry Standard JB/T 9002-1999.
DBY Series: Features two-stage reduction. The first stage is a spiral bevel gear, and the second stage is a helical gear.
DCY Series: Features three-stage reduction. The first stage is a spiral bevel gear, and the second and third stages are helical gears.
The gears are made from high-quality alloy steel and undergo precision processes like case carburizing, quenching, and grinding, resulting in high load capacity, low noise, high efficiency, and long service life. The housing is designed for horizontal mounting, making it ideal for heavy industries requiring a 90-degree change in drive direction.
Model Designation: DBY XXX - XX - XX or DCY XXX - XX - XX (XXX represents the center distance in mm).
Center Distance (mm):
DBY (2-Stage): 80, 100, 112, 125, 140, 160, 180, 200, 224, 250, 280, 315, 355, 400.
DCY (3-Stage): 160, 180, 200, 224, 250, 280, 315, 355, 400, 450, 500, 560, 630, 710.
Number of Stages: DBY has two stages, DCY has three stages.
Ratio Range (i):
DBY (2-Stage): 8 ~ 14
DCY (3-Stage): 16 ~ 90
(The practical selection range may be broader, depending on the manufacturer.)
Input Power (kW): Covers a wide range, from a few kW to over 1000 kW.
Output Torque (N·m): Ranges from several thousand N·m to hundreds of thousands of N·m.
Shaft Angle: The input and output shafts are perpendicular (90 degrees) and non-intersecting.
Gear Accuracy: High gear precision. Helical gears achieve Grade 6 per GB/T 10095, bevel gears achieve Grade 7 per GB/T 11365 (comparable to ISO standards).
Gear Material: Gears are made from high-quality alloy steel (e.g., 20CrMnTi, 17CrNiMo6, 42CrMo), treated by case carburizing, quenching, and grinding. Tooth surface hardness reaches HRC 58-62.
Efficiency: Efficiency is slightly lower than pure helical reducers due to the bevel gear stage. Single-stage helical efficiency >98%, spiral bevel gear efficiency ~97%. Overall efficiency is typically 94% - 96%.
Right-Angle Drive: The spiral bevel gear provides a 90-degree drive between input and output shafts, eliminating the need for additional power turn units and simplifying the drive layout.
High Load Capacity: Hard-faced technology and gear grinding provide extremely high contact and bending strength, capable of handling heavy and shock loads.
Smooth Transmission & Low Noise: Spiral bevel gears offer smoother engagement, higher contact ratio, and significantly lower noise and vibration compared to straight bevel gears.
Compact Structure & Small Size: For equivalent ratios and torque, the bevel-helical combination offers a more compact solution with higher load capacity compared to worm gear reducers.
High Versatility: High degree of commonality and modular design with standard helical reducers like ZLY and ZSY, facilitating production and maintenance.
Long Service Life: Premium materials and advanced manufacturing processes ensure long life and high reliability in demanding conditions.
DBY/DCY series reducers are widely used in heavy industrial equipment requiring a change in drive direction:
Belt Conveyors: The most classic application. Serves as the drive unit, perfectly suited for the conveyor's layout.
Bucket Elevators: Drive unit at the boot or head.
Winches & Hoists: Lifting and pulling equipment requiring right-angle drives.
Mining Machinery: Drives for scraper conveyors, transfer machines, crushers, etc.
Metallurgical Machinery: Auxiliary drives for steel rolling equipment, such as pushers, cooling beds, etc.
Chemical Machinery: Large mixing equipment (when the motor requires horizontal mounting).
Rubber & Plastics Machinery: Drives for calenders, internal mixers (Banbury).
Any application requiring a 90-degree right-angle, medium to heavy-duty drive between non-intersecting shafts.
