The MBY series reducer is a hard-faced gear reducer designed specifically for edge drive (or peripheral drive) applications in large rotating equipment such as tube mills, ball mills, and rod mills. It is primarily used to replace traditional, bulky old-style reducers (e.g., ZD series) and open-gear drives, serving as the core power transmission unit in modern large-scale mills. This series employs involute gears that undergo precision processes like case carburizing, quenching, and grinding, resulting in extremely high load capacity and reliability. Its key feature is single-stage reduction with an enormous center distance, and an output via a large-diameter hollow shaft that connects directly to the mill's main shaft, forming a compact drive system.
Model Designation: MBYXXX (XXX represents the center distance in mm, e.g., MBY800).
Center Distance (mm): Sizes are massive. Common center distances include: 630, 710, 800, 900, 1000, 1120, 1250, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000, and even larger.
Number of Stages: Single-stage reduction (a key distinction from the QJ series).
Ratio Range (i): Relatively small, typically ranging from 5 to 12.5.
Input Power (kW): Covers an extremely wide power range, from several hundred kW to several thousand kW (e.g., over 5000 kW).
Output Torque (N·m): Provides extremely high output torque, reaching tens of millions of Newton-meters, making it a true heavy-duty reducer.
Output Style: Hollow shaft output utilizing a keyless shrink disc connection. This connection method transmits enormous torque, ensures excellent alignment, and facilitates disassembly.
Gear Accuracy: Requires extremely high gear precision, typically achieving Grade 5 or 6 per GB/T 10095.1-2008 (comparable to ISO 1328).
Gear Material: Gears are made from high-quality alloy steel (e.g., 17CrNiMo6, 42CrMoA), treated by case carburizing, quenching, and grinding. Tooth surface hardness reaches HRC 58-62.
Efficiency: High single-stage efficiency, typically >98.5%.
Extremely High Load Capacity & Torque: Designed for the massive constant and shock loads of mills. A single stage can transmit thousands of kW of power and tens of millions of Nm of torque.
High Transmission Efficiency & Significant Energy Savings: The efficiency of hard-faced ground gears is far superior to traditional open gears or soft-faced reducers, effectively reducing operating costs.
Compact Structure & Space Saving: The hollow output shaft mounts directly onto the mill trunnion, eliminating the need for low-speed couplings, extensive foundation platforms, and large bases, greatly simplifying equipment layout and installation.
Smooth Operation & Low Noise: High-precision gear grinding ensures smooth meshing, significantly reducing vibration and noise.
High Reliability & Long Service Life: Premium materials, advanced heat treatment, and high manufacturing precision guarantee long life and high reliability in harsh operating conditions, minimizing downtime for maintenance.
Easy Installation & Maintenance: The shrink disc connection makes installation and disassembly relatively straightforward, facilitating maintenance.
The MBY series reducer is almost exclusively used in large rotating grinding equipment in the building materials, metallurgy, mining, and power generation industries:
Cement Industry: Main drive for cement tube mills, raw material mills, coal mills, and finish cement mills.
Metallurgical Industry: Mineral ball mills, rod mills for ore grinding.
Power Industry: Drive for coal pulverizing mills (medium-speed mills) in thermal power plants.
Chemical Industry: Large raw material mills.
Any other heavy industrial applications requiring single-stage, ultra-high torque, low-speed transmission.
