Product Description

NGW-L Type Vertical Planetary Gear Reducer Single-stage efficiency can reach 97%-98%

1. Introduction

The NGW-L type reducer is a vertical-mounted, involute spur gear planetary gear reducer. "NGW" is the code for planetary gear reducers per Chinese National Standard (JB/T 6502-1993) (N - Internal meshing, G - External meshing, W - Planetary gear), and "L" stands for vertical installation. It employs a planetary gear transmission structure, consisting of a sun gear, planetary gears (usually 3-4), an internal ring gear, and a planet carrier. Its core features are power splitting and multiple tooth meshing, enabling high reduction ratios and high torque output in an extremely compact volume. The vertical design makes it particularly suitable for applications requiring vertical power transmission.

2. Key Parameters

  • Models: Usually denoted by model size and nominal ratio, e.g., NGW-L-71, NGW-L-82, NGW-L-93, NGW-L-104 (the number indicates the frame size, larger numbers indicate higher capacity).

  • Transmission Stages: Single-stagedouble-stage, or triple-stage planetary reduction.

  • Ratio Range (i): Extremely wide range.

    • Single-stage: ~3.5:1 to 12.5:1

    • Double-stage: ~16:1 to 125:1

    • Triple-stage: ~140:1 to 2000:1

  • Input Power: Covers a range from a few kilowatts to several hundred kilowatts.

  • Output Torque: Provides very high output torque, from thousands of N·m to hundreds of thousands of N·m.

  • Gear Design:

    • Tooth Profile: Involute spur gears.

    • Surface Hardness: Gears are typically carburized, quenched, and ground to hard-faced standards (HRC 54-62), ensuring high load capacity.

  • Mounting Position: Vertical mounting. Input and output shafts are vertically oriented. The housing often features a bottom flange for easy fixing.

  • Output Method: Depending on the application, it can be solid shaft output or flange output.

  • Lubrication: Usually splash lubrication or forced circulation lubrication (for high-power or high-speed applications).

3. Product Advantages

  • Extremely High Power/Weight & Torque/Volume Ratio: Power is split among multiple planetary gears with multiple teeth in mesh simultaneously. This results in a very compact structure that can transmit far greater torque than conventional fixed-shaft gear reducers of comparable size.

  • High Transmission Efficiency: Single-stage efficiency can reach 97%-98%. Efficiency decreases slightly with more stages but remains higher than many other transmission forms.

  • High Load Capacity: The load is shared by multiple planetary gears, providing strong resistance to impact and vibration, and ensuring a long service life.

  • Smooth Transmission & Low Noise: Symmetrical force distribution results in smoother operation with significantly reduced noise and vibration.

  • Large Ratio Range: Very high reduction ratios can be achieved through multi-stage combination while maintaining a relatively compact structure.

4. Typical Applications

The NGW-L vertical planetary reducer is widely used in heavy industrial equipment requiring high torque, low speed, and vertical output.

  • Hoisting Equipment: Wincheshoists, lifting mechanisms of tower cranes.

  • Metallurgical & Mining Equipment: Mine hoists (winders), screwdown devices for bar and wire rod mills, sinter machine drives.

  • Building Materials Equipment: Central drives for tube millsball mills.

  • Water Conservancy Projects: Lift gates (for sluice gates and dam gate lifting).

  • Port & Ship Machinery: Marine deck machinery (e.g., windlasses, capstans), slewing mechanisms of port cranes.
